Telemachus Landing on the Island of Calypso is an oil on canvas composition painted by Johann Heinrich Tischbein the Elder, and depicts an event from Greek mythology.
Here we see Telemachus, with Mentor in tow, landing upon the island of Calypso; Telemachus us seeking news of his father, Odysseus. Odysseus has been missing from Ithaca for 20 years, ten years fighting at Tory, and ten years upon his return journey. Odysseus had been a "guest" of Calypso for seven years, but Zeus had sent Hermes to order his release previously.
