Undertaken for the Torre de la Parada by Jan Cossiers, Prometheus Carrying Fire was completed between 1636 and 1638 by Jan Cossiers, and retells a story from Greek mythology.
Prometheus Carrying Fire depicts the Titan Prometheus leaving Mount Olympus having stolen the secret of fire from the workshop of Hephaestus. Prometheus would give the secret of fire to man so that they would never be cold and could cook; henceforth Prometheus would be known as the benefactor of man, although he would be punished thereafter by Zeus.
