The Abduction of Ganymede is an oil on canvas painting by the Florentine painter Anton Domenico Gabbiani.
This work of art shows the tale of Greek Mythology where Zeus spies the beautiful Trojan prince Ganymede, and decides to abduct him. Transforming himself into the form of an eagle, Zeus takes the son of King Tros to Mount Olympus. Ganymede would become the lover of Zeus, as well as taking over the role of cup-bearer of the gods from the goddess Hebe. Subsequently, it would be Ganymede who served the ambrosia and nectar to the Greek gods and goddesses.
